Luise Lallinger and Charlotte Schüßler Hosted RI-ProT Practice Lab on Alternative Proteins at ZTG

On 19 September 2025, the first practice lab took place online as part of our Ri-ProT research project. Twenty-one innovative companies from the fields of plant-based milk and meat products, cell cultivation, fermentation, plant engineering and ingredient production took part. The participants contributed their expertise in the fields of machinery and plant technology, food innovation and consulting, thus reflecting the wide spectrum of the industry.
Under the workshop title ‘Alternative Proteins: Shaping a Responsible Future,’ roadmaps were used to discuss innovation gaps, challenges and risks. Various entrepreneurial perspectives on the development of alternative proteins were presented – a valuable exchange that promotes cooperation and identifies concrete starting points for the protein supply of the future.
